Security & privacy

Your company’s context.
Kept on your computer.

Prairie Desktop calculates locally and keeps its company database encrypted. Its network connections have specific, limited purposes. The boundaries matter as much as the design.

Local company database

Proprietary company records are not uploaded for calculation.

Encrypted company database

SQLCipher protects the local company database. Its key is held by macOS Keychain or Windows Credential Manager.

Limited network access

Approved adapters handle licensing, public-data packages, and application updates. The customer runtime has no AI model or telemetry.

Evidence that retains its context

Committed decision revisions preserve decision-time inputs and evidence. Later outcomes remain separate records.

Practical boundaries

What local-first does—and doesn’t—mean.

Encryption has a scope

Original import files, license metadata, some caches, and user-created prints are not all part of the encrypted database. Protect your device, accounts, and exported files.

Backups need their key

Encrypted backups currently depend on the originating device key. Portable transfer between computers or operating systems is not implemented.

Offline access has limits

Local modeling works within the valid license entitlement and offline allowance. Activation and certain refresh or update actions require a connection; license state can limit editing.

Evidence is not a guarantee

Provenance lets you trace an input. A source, signature, or calculation does not establish that an estimate is accurate or that a business outcome will occur.

Prairie is in private beta. This describes the implemented architecture; it is not a claim of third-party certification or a guarantee against every security threat.

Early-access inquiries

If you submit the contact form, your name, company, business email, industry, company size, challenge, and optional message are sent over HTTPS to Formspree for Prairie to review and respond to your request.

Only share information needed for the inquiry. Do not submit customer records, credentials, or confidential financial data. A request is not a purchase or consent to marketing emails.

Formspree processes submissions under its privacy policy. To ask about or request removal of inquiry information, use the contact form and select “Other.”

Browsing and the example

This website includes no advertising, analytics scripts, or tracking cookies. The interactive example runs in your browser without storing or sending its values. A hosting provider may process ordinary request logs, including IP addresses, to serve and secure the site.
